Wearden\, MD\, PhD\, is a pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon with clinical expertise in congenital heart surgery\, heart transplantation and pediatric mechanical cardiopulmonary support. He joined Nemours Children's Hospital as the chief of cardiovascular surgery in the fall of 2015. Prior to coming to Nemours\, he served as a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh where he was also surgical director for the Pediatric Heart and Lung Transplantation Program and director of the Mechanical Cardiopulmonary Support Program. Dr. Wearden earned his medical degree and a doctorate in pharmacology and toxicology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine\, where he continued his training with a residency in general surgery. Following a second residency in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center\, Dr. Wearden completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiothoracic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Dr. Wearden is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery from which he holds additional qualification in pediatric and congenital heart surgery.\n\n\n\nCoffee Club NONA\, presented by The Lake Nona Area Council\, meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at the UF Academic and Research Center located in Lake Nona's Medical City.\n\n \n\nWe strive to provide you with quality events that help you join\, connect\, and grow your business. This group's focus is to provide you with open networking activities the 2nd Thursday and fantastic speakers on the 4th Thursday of the month.
