Maureen Wagner is the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Deputy Secretary for Professional Regulation. Deputy Secretary Wagner previously served as the Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez, and is one of the longest-serving members of Governor DeSantis’ Senior Leadership Team. Deputy Secretary Wagner began her career with the DeSantis-Nuñez administration in 2019, where she started as a Senior Advisor before quickly advancing to into the role as the Lieutenant Governor’s Chief of Staff. Prior to working in Florida’s state government, she served as Director of South Florida Election Day Operations for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, as a member of the counsel’s office at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and as Deputy Chief of Staff at the New Jersey Department of State.
Deputy Secretary Wagner is a native of New Jersey, and a graduate of Rutgers University, where she double majored in marine biology, ecology and natural resources. Deputy Secretary Wagner received her law degree at Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island, and her Master of Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island.
In her current role, she oversees multiple divisions and functions of the agency, including the Division of Regulation, which houses the Unlicensed Activity program. The Unlicensed Activity unit works in conjunction with law enforcement and the state attorney’s offices to prosecute individuals practicing without a license.
